White House
The White House was envisioned around the Jungle Book theme suggested by the owner. A home that celebrates nature, storytelling, and tradition. The ceiling features wooden panels with intentional gaps, allowing sunlight to filter through and cast shifting patterns of light and shadow, echoing the play of the forest canopy. Materials such as wood, stone, and white marble ground the design in simplicity and timelessness.
Indian architectural references appear throughout- the uneven flooring recalls the textures of temple floors, while solid stone blocks emphasize permanence and strength. Large windows and oversized planters outside the master bedroom bring the outdoors in, blurring the threshold between house and garden. At the entrance, two hand-carved marble elephants stand as guardians, extending a grand yet graceful welcome.
The White House is a residence where narrative, materiality, and cultural memory converge, offering a contemporary dwelling steeped in natural and architectural heritage.
